Air Source Heat Pumps · North West

Replace your boiler with Clean, Efficient Heat

An air source heat pump draws warmth from the outside air — even in winter — to heat your home and hot water. And there's £7,500 off through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

Why Switch

The cleaner way to heat your home

A heat pump replaces your gas, oil or LPG boiler with a system that moves heat rather than burning fuel to make it — so far more of the energy you pay for ends up as warmth.

  • Lower running costsPaired with a heat pump tariff or solar panels, your heating can cost less to run than a boiler.
  • Cut your home's carbonHeating is the biggest source of emissions in most homes. A heat pump runs on electricity that's getting greener every year.
  • Built for cold wintersHeat pumps keep working well below freezing — they're the norm across Scandinavia.
  • Heating and hot water in oneOne system runs your radiators or underfloor heating and keeps your hot water cylinder topped up.
How It Works

Heat from thin air

There's useful heat in outdoor air even on a frosty morning. A heat pump collects it, concentrates it and moves it indoors.

  1. Draws in outside airA fan pulls air across the outdoor unit, where a refrigerant absorbs its warmth — even below freezing.
  2. Boosts the temperatureA compressor, powered by a small amount of electricity, raises that captured heat to a useful temperature.
  3. Heats your home and waterThe heat passes into your radiators or underfloor heating, and your hot water cylinder.

What's Included

Designed properly, installed properly

A heat pump only performs as well as it's designed. Every install starts with the numbers, not a guess.

Room-by-room heat loss survey

We calculate how much heat every room needs, so your system is sized to your home — not guessed.

Correctly sized heat pump

A high-efficiency outdoor unit matched to your home, and positioned for quiet running.

Hot water cylinder

A heat-pump-ready cylinder for plenty of hot water, fitted as part of the same install.

Radiator upgrades where needed

Only in rooms where the survey shows a larger radiator is needed to stay warm at lower flow temperatures.

Smart controls & app

Simple controls and an app to set schedules and see how much energy your heating uses.

MCS certificate & grant

Your system is MCS registered, and we handle your £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme application.

Heat Pump Questions

Thinking about a heat pump?

Will a heat pump work with my radiators?

Often, yes. Heat pumps run at lower temperatures than boilers, so some rooms may need a larger radiator. Our room-by-room heat loss survey shows exactly which, if any, need changing.

Do heat pumps work in cold weather?

Yes. They keep extracting heat well below freezing and are widely used across Scandinavia. A correctly sized system keeps your home warm right through a North West winter.

Will it be cheaper to run than my boiler?

It depends on your home, the system design and your tariff. A well-designed heat pump on a heat pump tariff — especially paired with solar — can cost less to run than a gas boiler. We'll give you an honest estimate at your survey.

Are heat pumps noisy?

Modern units are quiet, with a low hum when running. We position the outdoor unit to meet MCS noise requirements and keep it away from bedrooms and neighbours where we can.

Will I need a hot water cylinder?

Yes — a heat pump heats a cylinder of stored hot water rather than heating it on demand like a combi boiler. If space is tight, we'll talk you through the options at your survey.

Do I need planning permission?

Usually not. Most air source heat pumps count as permitted development, subject to conditions on size and position. Listed buildings and conservation areas can differ — we'll check for you.

How long does installation take?

Most heat pump installs take two to four days on site. We'll agree a plan with you so you're never without hot water for long.
