The short version
- We only collect what we need to quote for, install and look after your system.
- We never sell your personal information.
- We only send marketing if you've agreed to it — and you can opt out at any time.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you.
1. Who we are
This website is run by BeeWise Energy Ltd ("BeeWise", "we", "us"). We're registered in England and Wales under company number 17211057, and our registered office is First Floor, Swan Building, 20 Swan Street, Manchester, England, M4 5JW.
We're the data controller for the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it's used.
This policy explains what we collect when you use our website, contact us, or become a customer — and what we do with it.
2. What information we collect
Information you give us
- Enquiry details — your name, email address, phone number, home address and postcode, the systems you're interested in, when you'd like them installed, and anything else you tell us in our contact form, by phone, email or message.
- Survey details — information about your home and energy use, such as your roof, heating system, insulation, energy bills and tariff, your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), and photos we take during the survey.
- Customer details — what we need to quote for, install and look after your system: your contract, installation records, warranty and certification details, and any grant or export tariff applications we make for you.
- Payment details — records of what you've paid. Card or bank payments are processed by our payment providers; we don't store full card details.
- Your preferences — whether you've agreed to receive marketing messages from us.
Information collected automatically
- Website usage — like most websites, ours and the services it uses (such as our contact form, fonts and images) may collect technical information including your IP address, browser and device type, and pages visited. See Cookies below.
- Communication records — records of calls, emails and text messages between you and us.
3. How we use your information
Data protection law requires us to have a valid reason — a "lawful basis" — for each way we use your information:
| What we use it for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and arranging your survey | Steps you've asked us to take before a contract |
| Designing your system and preparing your quote | Steps you've asked us to take before a contract |
| Installing, commissioning and supporting your system, and handling warranty claims | Performing our contract with you |
| Registering your installation (e.g. with MCS), notifying your network operator, and applying for grants or export tariffs on your behalf | Performing our contract with you, and legal or scheme obligations |
| Keeping financial and tax records | Legal obligation |
| Sending you marketing messages by text or email | Your consent |
| Improving our website, services and customer care, and protecting our business | Our legitimate interests |
4. Marketing messages
We'll only send you marketing — such as offers, news or reminders about new products — by text message or email if you've agreed to it, for example by ticking the consent box on our contact form.
You can opt out at any time: reply STOP to any text message, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact us. Opting out of marketing won't affect messages we need to send about an enquiry, quote or installation you have with us.
6. Transfers outside the UK
Some of our service providers — for example our CRM platform — may store or process information outside the UK. Where that happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or a UK adequacy decision for the country concerned.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it:
- Enquiries that don't go ahead — up to 2 years after our last contact, in case you come back to us.
- Customers — for at least 6 years after our contract ends, for legal, tax and accounting reasons, and for as long as any warranty or certification on your system lasts.
- Marketing preferences — until you opt out, after which we keep a record that you've opted out so we don't contact you again.
After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.
8. Keeping it secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information — including access controls, secure systems and trusted providers — and only give access to people who need it to do their job.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct anything that's wrong or incomplete;
- Delete your information, in some circumstances;
- Restrict or object to how we use it, in some circumstances;
- Move information you've given us to another organisation;
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We'll respond within one month, and there's usually no charge.
11. Children
Our services are for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
13. Contact us and complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
